A Journey I Will Never Forget — The Adinkra Group Some trips are vacations, and some become experiences that stay with you for a lifetime. My journey with The Adinkra Group was definitely the latter. From the very beginning, I knew this was going to be different. The Meet & Greet Zoom call gave us an opportunity to share a little about ourselves, our interests, and what we hoped to gain from the experience. That personal connection before we even left home set the tone for the entire trip. I also loved that a WhatsApp group was created so that our family and friends could follow our journey along the way. It made them feel like they were a part of the experience with us. And then there was Joyce. I cannot say enough about Joyce. She was more than a tour guide—she became an important part of the experience. Her knowledge, warmth, patience, and personal attention made every day special. She recorded our excursions and the historical explanations along the way, creating live memories that we can treasure, share with our families, and pass on to future generations. Because history was the heart of this trip for me, those recordings are especially meaningful. I didn’t simply want to visit places; I wanted to understand them, connect with them, and bring those stories home with me. The hotels were five-star, and when a few issues arose, they were handled and resolved as quickly as possible. That responsiveness demonstrated the level of care and professionalism I experienced throughout the trip. My only real disappointment was not being able to visit Goree Island because the water was too rough. I was particularly looking forward to that experience because of its historical significance. Accra was the highlight of my trip. I found myself wishing we could have stayed longer. Looking back, I probably would have preferred spending more time in Accra rather than traveling on to Senegal. But that was my own decision from the beginning—I had traveled this far and didn’t want to leave West Africa without experiencing Senegal. And since we were only there for two days, I believe I simply needed more time to truly experience it. This journey gave me memories, knowledge, history, and stories that I will carry with me for years to come. I would highly recommend The Adinkra Group to anyone considering a journey to West Africa. They provided an experience that was thoughtfully planned, personal, and memorable. And if you have the opportunity to request your tour guide, request Joyce. We had an amazing trip to Ghana and Senegal, all planned by the Adinkra Group. Our itinerary was packed with tours and activities that helped us understand the history, culture and the people. The Adinkra Group provided a dedicated host and driver during our 11 day vacation. Our itinerary consisted of museums, a visit to Makola Market for shopping, a cooking class, a visit to a Kente weaving village, a visit to an Adkinkra stamping village, a tour of Cape Coast, a boat ride on the Volta, and a traditional renaming ceremony. The itinerary also included time for rest and relaxation. Our host, Joyce, was everything we expected and more. Her level of professionalism and the extra things she did to make our trip so enjoyable will always remain in our hearts. She took photos and videos of everything we did in Ghana. So we’ll have these documented memories forever. Joyce is truly a gem!! I can’t thank the Adinkra Group enough for such a well planned and executed vacation. Had a wonderful time on my 10-day trip to Ghana. It was my first time on the continent. My host, Ricky, was wonderful, as was my driver, David. Both were very informative and willing to assist and be patient with a first-time visitor to their country. My accommodations at Château NaNa Willine were great. It's a small boutique hotel. The included breakfast choices were great; no complaints there. Especially loved the pancakes. Maisha did a wonderful job planning and putting together an itinerary partially based on my interests. My flight to and from Kumasi went flawlessly. Navigating the domestic terminal, which was partially under renovation when I was there, was a slight bit of a challenge, but that's one reason it pays to arrive well in advance of either your international or domestic flights. It was great spending some time with Diallo at their community residence as well as outside of it. It was a whirlwind 10 days, but Ricky and David were very accommodating, especially if I wanted to rest in for an extra hour or so before beginning my day's itinerary. I would highly recommend utilizing The Adinkra Group for any planned trips to Africa, not just Ghana. I hear they've accommodated groups as large as 500. I felt as though I was treated as well as a group that size even though it was just me travelling.

It has been 27 years since my first trip to Ghana. The first trip was only 6 days and we were able to pack a lot into that trip. However, this 17 day trip planned by Adinkra Group was excellent. I had the opportunity to revisit places I had visited before, but also visited many places I had not visited. The places we visited, the activities we participated in, the expats we were able to meet with and talk to about their journey, the hotel accommodations and the vehicle were all superb. The Adinkra staff and our driver [Kofi, Yemi & David] were amazing. They were all very professional, patient and very willing to assist the group with any need that might come up. I have no criticism of how this trip was planned, the places that we visited or the accommodations. As a yearly traveler to Africa, I have to say that everything was well done.
