One-Day Cultural Heritage Tour of Kumasi
Departure City: Accra
Destination: Kumasi (Ashanti Region)
Round-Trip Flights + Guided Ground Tour Included

Your journey begins early in the morning with a convenient pick-up from Accra, followed by check-in at the domestic terminal of Kotoka International Airport. A short 30-minute flight whisks you away to Kumasi, the vibrant cultural capital of Ghana.

Your first stop is Bonwire Kente Weaving Village & Museum, the birthplace of the iconic Kente cloth. Here, you witness skilled artisans at work, weaving intricate patterns by hand, and learn the deep history and cultural significance behind each design. A visit to the Kente museum offers further insights before you interact with local weavers who carry on this centuries-old tradition.

Next, immerse yourself in creativity at Ntonso Adinkra Village, where you participate in a hands-on Adinkra stamping workshop. Guided by master artisans, you discover the meanings of Adinkra symbols while learning how natural dyes are crafted and applied to fabric—a memorable way to take part in Ghana’s rich artistic heritage.

The journey continues to the Okomfo Anokye Sword Site at KNUST, a sacred place where legend tells of the priest Okomfo Anokye planting an immovable sword that marks the birth of the Ashanti Kingdom. Here, you gain insight into the history, spirituality, and unifying traditions of the Ashanti people.

After a morning filled with history and culture, enjoy a delicious Ghanaian lunch at one of Kumasi’s top-rated restaurants, with vegetarian and dietary-friendly options available upon request.

Your afternoon takes you to the Manhyia Palace Museum, the former royal residence of Ashanti kings. As you walk through its halls, you explore centuries of Ashanti history through regalia, artifacts, and oral traditions, while learning about the lives and legacies of both past and present Ashanti royalty.

As the day winds down, your driver returns you to Kumasi Airport for your evening flight back to Accra. By 5:30 PM, you are back at your hotel in Accra with memories of a day steeped in culture, history, and tradition.
